Flyin’ Irons is currently available as source code only.
It has been successfully tested on Windows XP and a couple of varieties of Linux.
Here is (I think!) all you’ll need to (hopefully!) get it running on your Win32 or Linux computer…
- Flyin’ Irons itself: http://hg.sharesource.org/flyinirons – click “zip” or “bz2″ at the top to get all the latest code and files in the compressed archive of your choice.
- Python 2.4.4 from http://www.python.org - but it has been reported to work properly with Python 2.5
- Linux users: Soya 3D 0.13 from http://home.gna.org/oomadness/en/soya3d/index.html
- Windows users: Soya 3D 0.13 from http://thomas.paviot.free.fr/soya/ - I plan to update to 0.14 when it is available for Windows.
- Blender from http://www.blender.org/ for building the 3D models when running setup
- Cerealizer 0.5 from http://download.gna.org/soya/Cerealizer-0.5.tar.bz2 – sorry, Windows folks, this must be installed from the command line.
- OpenAL from http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/Downloads/oalinst.zip
- PySDL Mixer DLLs from http://linux.wareseeker.com/Programming/pysdl-mixer-0.0.3.zip/330682 - put them in your python24/DLLs folder
Follow the instructions in the included Readme file (Windows users, please open it with WordPad as Notepad won’t show it properly), and you should be up and running soon after.
It’s a fair number of downloads, I know, but none of them are too enormous. When it’s reached a standard of completion and quality, I will make a much more concerted effort to put together a Windows EXE, whether an installer or a standalone program, that will allow you Windows folks to run Flyin’ Irons easily.
